Bernie Carbo from Red Sox

Bernie Carbo, one of the 1975 World Series heroes for the Boston Red Sox, will be speaking at Creation Church on SUNDAY, JUNE 23rd 9am and 10:30am.

Carbo started his career with the Cincinnati Reds where he was the Reds’ number one draft pick in the inaugural 1965 draft, the 16th pick overall and ahead of Johnny Bench.  In his 1970 rookie season, Bernie posted career highs in batting average (.310), homeruns (21), and runs batted in (63).  He was selected Rookie of the Year by The Sporting News.

His greatest moment in baseball, however, was hitting a three-run homerun in the bottom of the eighth inning in the sixth game of the 1975 World Series for the Boston Red Sox to tie the score at 6-6 against his former Cincinnati Reds, which paved the way for Carlton Fisk’s dramatic home run in the 12th inning to force a game seven.  Carbo’s homerun was one of the greatest homeruns in World Series history, and will forever remain in Red Sox folklore.

On Nov. 10, 2004, Bernie was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.  In September of 2012, Bernie was named to the 100-Year All Fenway Park Team, which consists of the top 40 Red Sox players of all-time.  Bernie is also in both The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and The Ted Williams Museum under the Unsung Hero section.

Telling the greatest story ever told through the greatest game ever played is Carbo’s passion in life.  He and his wife, Tammy, founded The Diamond Club Ministry in 1993, a Christian organization whose sole purpose is to glorify Jesus Christ.  The Diamond Club teaches the proper fundamentals of baseball through drills, practice, and fun.  Carbo believes that playing the game with competence not only makes one a better player, but increases self-esteem and encourages relationship-building through team play.  The mission of The Diamond Club is to give youth and their families a simple message:  God loves you!

Hebrews Sunday Morning Study

Starting Sunday, March 3rd, 9am, there will be a Bible Study on the book of Hebrews led by one of our deacons, Chris Booth. Meet in the Admin building! Contact: Chris 508-410-0695.

-

"What's the use?" At times of frustration or disappointment, it is tempting to ask this question. You work and work to grow to Christian maturity, but you seem to get nowhere--repeating your mistakes, neglecting your commitments, losing your motivation. The original readers of Hebrews felt the same way! Yet the writer of this New Testament letter cheers for them to stay on track and never quit, so they can reach the finish line by the power of Jesus Christ. As James Reapsome leads you through thirteen studies in Hebrews, he offers you--and all of today's faith-weary Christians--the encouragement you need to stay in the faith-race. This LifeGuide Bible Study in IVP's revised format features questions for starting group discussions and for meeting God in personal reflection, as well as a new "Now or Later" section following each session to help you act on what you learn.

This study reveals not only the heart of John but also the heart of Jesus.

Ladies Night Out

Come join us for some laughs watching the comedy of a “stay-at-home-mom”-turned- “YouTube comedic Phe-mom-enon”…Anita Renfroe. We'll also celebrate and honor Gale Norman's birthday! We're so thankful for her role as the Pastor's wife & her ability to wear many hats! We hope to see all women of Creation Church Friday night March 15th AND there will be CAKE!

Now about the Christian comedian stuff...If you don't know who Anita Renfroe is, you're in for a night you'll laugh so hard you might cry. Anita is wife of a baptist pastor in Georgia. Here's the description on her website:
"Anita has been featured as a comedy correspondent for Good Morning America, performed at The Grand Ole Opry, and has appeared on “Dr.Phil”, Sirius XM’s “Oprah and Friends”, CBS’s “The Early Show”, Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends”, “Inside Edition”, Nickelodean’s “Mom’s Night Out”, “Huckabee” and many more. With her unique brand of estrogen flavored musical comedy and blend of sass, edge and slightly offbeat takes on All Things Female, audiences at her comedy concert tours, viewers of Good Morning America appearances and the YouTube masses who enjoyed her William Tell version of everything a Mom says would say that Anita just tells it like it is."
