On this Rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell, shall not prevail against it.
— Matthew 16:18
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.
— John 15:5

About the Youth Pastor:

Joe Asermelly and his wife, Jacqueline, have three children and live in Brooklyn, CT. Joe is a teacher at Ellis Technical High School in Danielson and coaches the football, rifle and track teams there. The football team actually is a tri-op team consisting of three high schools:  Ellis, Putnam and Tourtellotte. The students call him "Coach A". He has formerly served at Faith Bible Chapel in Westerly, RI as a VBS Director and was heavily involved in youth ministry there. Joe has a passion for God, family and young people. He grew up in a strong Christian home in Hopkinton, RI and put his trust in Jesus at a young age. His faith grew tremendously through his family and several great youth ministry leaders. While at Chariho High School in RI, Joe was an All-State football and track athlete. He received a full athletic scholarship to Hofstra University to play football, where he received his Bachelor's Degree. While at Chariho he was instrumental in beginning a Fellowship of Christian Athletes group there, and led one at Hofstra also. Joe's wife Jacqueline led a MOMS Group at Faith Bible Chapel and was in charge of ministry outreach there.

Hobbies: coaching football and track, being a Patriots fan, spending time outdoors with my family biking, making and eating s'mores, fishing, quahogging and digging into God's word.

Why called to serve: God has blessed me with the gift of teaching and a thirst for knowing Jesus more.  This has resulted in a passion for introducing young adults to Christ and helping disciple students in their own walk's with the Lord.  As a high school teacher, it is evident that teenagers are at a unique point in their lives where they are searching for truth and purpose as they are preparing to be launched into adulthood.  It is such a privilege to be used by God to encourage and equip students to pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ so that they may find all the answers to their questions in Him alone.

How I came to Christ: I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior as a young child through a children's evangelism program at the Washington County Fair in Rhode Island.  In high school, youth ministry leaders played a pivotal role in helping me learn who I am in Christ as well as how scripture can be applied to my everyday life.  I enjoy being a part of Creation Church because a variety of opportunities are offered for people of all ages to go deeper in their relationships with God, regardless of their past church or religious experiences.
